SF Thermal Fuse Circuit Cutoff

There are 4 series of SF type thermal fuse. They are  SF/R, SFH/R, SF/K, SF/Y. The thermal pellet placed inside the metal case of the SF-type responds to an abnormal temperature situation and triggers the cutoff function. The SF-type features a large rated current of 6A to 15A (AC). Furthermore, the SFH/R series has higher Tm than conventional thermal links, as well as excellent insulation performance at high temperature conditions.

 

Working Principle

 

The SF-type contains a sliding contact, springs and a thermal pellet inside a metal case. When spring B is compressed, there is firm contact between lead A and the sliding contact. At normal temperatures, current flows from lead A to the sliding contact and then through the metal case to lead B.

When the ambient temperature rises to the operating temperature of the SF-type, heat is transferred through the metal case and melts the thermal pellet. Springs A and B then stretch and the sliding contact moves away from lead A, thereby opening the electrical circuit.

Thermal cutoff fuses like sefuse can be applied to various electrical and electronic devices that have the potential to overheat, such as:

 

1. Home appliances, including ovens, dryers, washing machines, and refrigerators.

2. HVAC systems, including air conditioners and heaters.

3. Power tools, including drills and saws.

4. Electronic devices, including computers, printers, and televisions.

5. Automotive and industrial equipment, including motors and transformers.

 

Notice: Install the new sefuse in the same location as the old one. If the sefuse has leads, make sure to connect them to the correct terminals. Secure the new sefuse in place using screws, clips, or by soldering the wires back in place. It's important to note that working with electrical devices can be dangerous, and if you are not confident in your ability to replace a sefuse, it is recommended that you seek the help of a qualified technician or electrician.
