Time Delay Class RK5 fuses are designed to provide protection in electrical systems where moderate overload and short-circuit currents occur. These fuses find application in industrial machinery, motor control centers, power distribution panels, commercial buildings, control panels, and various electrical systems where protection against overcurrent and short-circuit events is required.
Features of FRS-R Series Fuses
1. Dual Element: The term "Dual element" refers to the construction of the fuse. These fuses have two separate current-carrying elements. One element is designed to handle the normal operating current of the circuit, while the other element is intended to handle short-circuit currents. This dual element design provides additional protection against high fault currents. Dual element also provides excellent time delay performance, enabling precise sizing and superior protection for motors and transformers.
2. Rated Voltage: The fuse is rated for a maximum voltage of 690VAC (alternating current) and 300VDC (direct current). This means it is suitable for use in electrical systems operating at or below these voltage levels.
3. Time Delay (T): Class RK5 fuses are designed with a time delay characteristic, which means they can tolerate temporary overloads without blowing immediately. The time delay feature allows the fuse to withstand short-duration current surges, such as motor starting currents or inrush currents during equipment operation. And time-delay feature also allows the use of smaller fuse amp ratings, resulting in cost savings by enabling the use of smaller switches, panels, and fuses themselves.
4. High breaking capacity: These fuses provide a 10-second time delay at 5 times the rated current. Class RK5 fuses with a 200 kA interrupting rating can be applied in a wide range of applications.
